The Adventure Center at Gateway Canyons will kick your vacation into high gear.  Opened in March of 2010, this brand new, over 2,000 square foot, stand alone outfitter is base camp for journeys by foot, bike, kayak – whatever your preferred means – into the spectacular wilderness surrounding Gateway Canyons.  Staffed with experienced guides and stocked with everything you need, the Adventure Center awaits only your desire to get out and play.

Gateway Canyons is centered on adventurous, enriching, educational retreats. Our workshops and classes unite guests with experts from a variety of fields in engaging classroom presentations and field trips on subjects ranging from the history of western Colorado to landscape photography. The Experius Academy, opening spring 2010, takes the concept of retreat to a higher learning level where a limited number of participants will be joined by leading researchers and instructors for lectures and discussions on topics such as energy, quantum physics, happiness, and more.

Breathe

The Gateway Canyons experience begins before you even arrive. As you wind through the heart of beautiful Unaweep Canyon, lush valley floors transform before your eyes into towering, granite mountain tops. Sparkling streams spill over the canyon walls lined with twisting cottonwoods and quivering aspen. Unaweep spills into the setting of Gateway Canyons, where the sun-bathed, expansive red canyons of lower West Creek and the Dolores River frame the towering red sandstone landmark — the Palisade — a monument of breathtaking enormity, standing watch over the junction of river and rock. The 12,000-foot peaks of Utah’s LaSal Mountains fill the western horizon. Once arrived, you’ll hear the songs of eagles on the wind. Time slows to a comfortable pace, and you can’t help but take a long, deep breath of fresh desert air.

While here, take a leisurely hike through Gateway Canyon’s Emerald Desert Ranch for spectacular back views of the impressive Palisade, or get your heart pumping with a climb to the top for a spectacular view of the world. Enjoy a massage or facial service, or sit poolside and enjoy the sunshine on your face. Find a cool, quiet spot to linger over a gourmet picnic prepared for you by the Paradox Grille and simply watch as the sunset drenches the landscape in a kaleidoscope of colors.
